Welcome to Lawndart!
Lawndart is an open-source model rocket simulation for Linux, designed to accurately simulate the flight of a model rocket from launch to landing. Lawndart will be released in stages to test more fundamental components of the software, and adding capability as those components are tested and verified.
As of the first public release, Lawndart is a very capable 1-Dimensional 2-Degree of Freedom simulation of the subsonic flight of a model rocket. As the fundamental infrastructure of the simulation is tested and expanded, Lawndart will add dimensions and degrees of freedom. Capabilties will also be added to increase accuracy. Development is well underway for these expansions in capability. See the Future Plans section of the website for more information
Lawndart is very configurable using open XML-based formats. The simulation is also capable of producing output in several useful formats. These outputs can be imported into other programs for analysis, graphing and logging.
